Partnerships

Stronger Together.

Every partnership extends our gravitational pull — reaching more families, more children, more of the community we're proud to call home. We believe great care doesn't stop at the classroom walls, so we link arms with the organizations working to make Nanaimo a place where every family can thrive.

Families navigating healthcare transitions, food insecurity, or simply the search for trusted care often face those challenges alone. No single organization can close every gap — but when childcare, healthcare, and community services move in the same orbit, families stop falling through the cracks. These are the partners we're proud to share that gravity with.

Division of Family Practice Nanaimo

Supporting Families, Together

We're proud to collaborate with the Division of Family Practice Nanaimo, which supports local family physicians, locums, emergency physicians, hospitalists, residents, and nurse practitioners working to improve access to care across our community. Nanaimo is working hard to attract family physicians from around the world — and securing reliable childcare is often the deciding factor in whether a doctor and their family put down roots here.

  • When physicians need childcare, the Division refers them to In Space
  • When we have openings, we connect those families with a spot — daycare, school age, or seasonal camps
  • We ease access to licensed, trusted care and remove the stress of the search
  • More physicians choosing Nanaimo means stronger healthcare for every family in our community

Doctors identify a need; we respond with care. It's a simple model, but it helps keep Nanaimo families — and the physicians who serve them — exactly where they belong.

Loaves & Fishes Community Food Bank

Nourishing Community Together

True wellness means more than early learning — it means making sure children, families, and neighbours have access to basic needs. That's why we partner with Loaves & Fishes / VI Food Bank, the Vancouver Island food-security network serving more than 15,000 people across over 44 communities, free of charge. At select In Space sites you'll find a green Loaves & Fishes bin where families and community members drop off empty bottles and cans.

  • Every $1 in refundable bottles equals roughly $5 worth of food for families in need
  • Everyday recyclables become nourishment and hope for our community
  • Children participate hands-on, building empathy, responsibility, and social awareness
  • Care that extends beyond the classroom walls and into the community

At In Space, we want our care to extend beyond the classroom walls. Partnering with Loaves & Fishes lets us step into our community, so children and families don't just thrive in learning — they feel supported in life. Together, we feed hope, dignity, and growth.

We value every opportunity to serve the growing, diverse families of Nanaimo. By working alongside partners across healthcare, food security, and culture, we're building a future where care is collaborative — and where every child has the opportunity to shine.
